Okay, here goes.

After reading this book; I successfully turned into a true Percy Jackson Fan. The reason I chose this book for my first review; is because it’s a book that is so diverse from my usual choice of books. Young Adult wasn’t always the first genre I’d reach for at a bookstore, and so I usually passed the PJO (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) series without a second glance. Since I’m not much of a Harry Potter lover (sorry to the potterheads out there), i ignored all the rave about it and figured Percy Jackson had the same sort of style (yes a very grave mistake, I realize now). But after trying this out, I must say that this should definitely be a must on your TBR pile. So now I’m going to give a short explanation on what Percy Jackson is really about.

.

.

Regular 12-year old Percy, doesn’t really fit in with the crowd and has changed schools more times than…. Sorry can’t think of an analogy that’s appropriate here. Let’s just say he’s changed schools a lot. He really is a fish out of water (literally if you know what I mean. I crack myself up! Oops I’ll get back on track). Until he finds out that his Dad is Poseidon (god of the sea), which makes him a demigod. After an unfortunate trip to the beach, Percy discovers Camp half-Blood, a place he finally thinks he can belong. But being a demigod isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Soon Percy finds himself accepting a dangerous quest, with adventure at every step. As he sets off to retrieve Zeus’s Lightning Bolt.

Read the Synopsis to Find Out More:

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
